Don't skip the maintenance.

Bearing service is cheap. Wheel-off failures, destroyed drums, and seized brakes are not. These came off real trailers that came into the shop.

This Is Why It Matters

A pre-purchase inspection, a grease gun, and a repair bill that didn't have to happen.

I recently did a pre-purchase inspection on a trailer for a new customer. What we found on the brakes wasn't their fault — it was inherited from the previous owner's maintenance habits. The brake shoes were covered in grease. Not a little. Covered.

Here's what happened: someone used a grease gun on the hub zerk fitting instead of actually servicing the bearings. It's a common mistake, and it's an expensive one.

Dexter Axle — one of the most common trailer axle manufacturers — does offer an E-Z Lube zerk fitting. But here's what their own documentation says:

1. The E-Z Lube feature is NOT a substitute for periodic bearing inspection and service.

2. If hubs are removed on an E-Z Lube axle, seals MUST be replaced before lubrication — otherwise grease getting on brake linings is greatly increased.

— Dexter Axle documentation

Dexter's own spec calls for bearings to be properly repacked every 12 months or 12,000 miles — by hand, with inspection.

When you just pump grease through the zerk, it follows the path of least resistance. That path leads right past the inner seal and onto your brake shoes and drum. Now your brakes don't work and you've got a much bigger repair bill than a bearing service would have cost.

Proper Bearing Service Includes

Pull the hub
Clean and inspect both bearings and races
Inspect and replace the seal
Repack the bearings by hand
Inspect the brakes while you're in there
Reassemble and adjust correctly

Bought a Used Trailer?

Have the bearings and brakes inspected before you trust your load — or your family — to it. You don't know what the previous owner did or didn't do.

That's exactly what I'm here for.

Oxidized foggy headlight before restoration
A new bulb won't fix this.
Headlight after restoration — crystal clear
This will.

You can't see.
We can fix that.

Oxidized, yellowed, fogged-out lenses aren't just ugly — they're a safety problem. Most people don't realize how bad it's gotten until they see a before and after.

We sand, polish, and clear-coat both headlights. Proper materials, proper process. Not a $20 kit from a parts store.

We do the hard stuff too.

This Toyota Tacoma TRD came in with collision damage — front aprons caved in, core support compromised. It left straight.

Solo operation out of Kingman, AZ. I do the work, I answer the phone, and I stand behind what leaves the shop.

Started in 2020, running legit since 2022. Trailers are the main focus — bearings, jacks, lighting, wiring, and structural work. The rest fills in around that.

Parts get sourced at cost plus a 20% procurement fee. I usually find them cheaper than dealer wholesale, so you're coming out ahead either way.

No long-term teardown projects. No runaround. If I can't do the job right, I'll tell you that too.
